Mother of Perpetual Help
St. Clare’s Mother of Perpetual Help devotion honors Our Blessed Mother under this beloved title, inviting parishioners to seek her intercession and guidance. Through prayer and devotion, we turn to Mary as a source of comfort, hope, and steadfast love, trusting in her continual care for our parish family.
A Devotion of Hope, Trust, and Constant Intercession

Our Mother of Perpetual Help is one of the most beloved Marian devotions in the Catholic Church. The devotion centers on a sacred icon dating back to at least the 13th century, venerated today in the Church of St. Alphonsus Liguori in Rome and entrusted to the care of the Redemptorist Fathers.
The image portrays the Blessed Virgin Mary holding the Child Jesus, who looks toward the instruments of His future Passion carried by angels. Mary’s solemn yet compassionate gaze is directed toward us—her children—inviting all who are burdened, anxious, or in need to seek her help.
What The Icon Teaches Us
- Mary as our Help: She is always ready to intercede for us with her Son
- Christ as our Savior: Even in fear, we cling to Him
- God’s Mercy: We are never abandoned in our struggles
- Hope in Suffering: God transforms even our trials into grace
This devotion reminds us that no matter the circumstances of life, we are never alone—our Blessed Mother is our Perpetual Help.

Obtain for me the strength to carry my crosses,
the grace to trust in God’s plan,
and the help I seek according to His holy will.”
