History
St. Clare is a joyful and welcoming Eucharistic community, united by our faith in Jesus Christ. A people of many backgrounds,
we pray together and work together as disciples of Christ, using our time, talent and treasure in service to one another and all.
In 1992 Bishop Quinn announced the creation of a new parish in Antelope. The first mass, celebrated by Fr. Ben Deleon, was celebrated at the rectory in Antelope in August of 1992. First regular weekend masses started the next month in the sanctuary of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Antelope. In 1993, Fr. John Boll replaced Fr. Deleon and masses were held at North Country Elementary school. It was soon realized that the size of the property in Antelope would not meet the requirements of the growing area, so a larger plot of land was selected on the corner of Baseline and Junction Blvd.

In December 1994, Fr. Colin Mc Donald was appointed the first pastor of St. Clare. By the year 2000 St. Clare had over 600 registered families and the new church was completed and dedicated on January 27, 2002.
The parish continued to grow and by 2006 there were nearly 3500 registered parishioners. The new parish Center, Morris Hall, was dedicated in 2006 and the Evangelist Center was dedicated in 2013.

Today St. Clare has over 8,000 registered families, 71 ministries, and over 600 children in our Faith Formation program. Construction of a new multi-purpose hall is planned to start in the summer of 2026 to support the growing demands of our vibrant and growing parish. The master plan for the parish includes the possibility of a school one day and a rectory.
It is rewarding to see the growth of St. Clare Parish from its humble beginnings in 1992, to now being the largest parish in the Diocese of Sacramento. The work of the Holy Spirit is clear and evident and we are truly blessed.
