John 11 Funeral Ministry Volunteers
Christian fellowship begins with vocation, the call to follow Jesus and imitate his way of life. Our mission with the John 11 Funeral Ministry is to be gentle servants with compassion and understanding in consoling our parish families.
We have several roles in this ministry. You may select whatever role you feel most comfortable serving. Available roles include coordinators, ministers, sacristans, musicians, Eucharistic ministers, and ushers.
What do we do?
- Assist the family of the deceased in the selection and preparation of the desired funeral rites, including Vigils, Funeral Mass, and the Burial or Committal.
- We have ongoing communication with the St Clare Clergy, including the Priest for the celebration of the Mass and Committal funeral rites, and the Deacons if the family elects to have a vigil service or rosary prior to the Mass.
- We need to arrive early enough to prepare the church for the appropriate rite, and to assist family members with instruction on readings, bringing up the gifts, serving Holy Communion, and any other necessary tasks.
If you are interested in discussing your possible involvement in this fulfilling ministry, please contact:
