Baptism 0-6 Years

Baptism (Ages 0–6) at St. Clare Catholic Church supports parents as they prepare to celebrate their child’s baptism. Through guided preparation and parish support, families are welcomed into the Church and invited to begin nurturing their child’s faith in a loving Catholic community.

The Sacrament of Baptism


Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life. It is the gateway to the fullness of life in the Spirit and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as children of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church, and made sharers in her mission: Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the Word.

Baptism Guidelines

Baptisms are performed at St. Clare for:


  • Current active members of our parish - registered at least one year.
  • New families who live in our parish boundaries - will need to register.


These guidelines apply to children who are infants to under 7 years of age. For a complete set of guidelines, view our Baptism Guidelines document.

For children 7 years of age through 12th grade, please contact the Faith Formation Office at(916) 772-4717ext. 113. ​
 
Baptisms are performed once a month on a Saturday. There will usually be a small group of children to be baptized at the same time as your child. The rite of Baptism is in English and it is not part of a Mass.
 

Your family must be registered at St. Clare to have your child baptized. 
   
A copy of the child’s birth certificate has to be provided for registration to be complete. 


Baptism Preparation Process

  • The date of Baptism will be confirmed after attending two in-person preparation classes and the completion and return of all necessary paperwork to the coordinator.
  • View the Description of the Process.
  • View the Guidelines for Sponsors document and complete the Sponsor Form. The form can be returned in one of the following ways:
  1. Brought to the in-person class.
  2. Mailed to Deacon Larry Bertrand at St. Clare Catholic Church, 1950 Junction Blvd., Roseville, CA 95747
  3. Scanned and emailed to Deacon Larry at larryb@stclareroseville.org.
  4. Brought to the Parish office to be placed in Deacon Larry's mailbox.
